Emude

Project references interaction of image surface and memory. Photos in the book resemble ‘found footage’ from an old soviet photocamera mis-read as ‘Emude’ and are dated to 1970s — early 1980s. But actual photos are made by author in 2009 during his trips over modern to him Russia (but camera is real — ‘Emude’). Film was developed in coffeenol to achieve this ‘layer of time’. Texted is based on V. Erofeev ‘Moscow — Petushki’ novel and newspapers articles of that time and printed with an off-page offset.
